These services include installation, testing, and commissioning of transformers, annual maintenance contracts, supply of spares, repair and upgradation of transformers, rental services, as well as operation and maintenance of electrical systems.
Our services include:
Retrofitting of Old Transformers and Upgradation Projects
In today’s era, the occurrence of voltage fluctuations at substations has become increasingly common, resulting in voltage variations at the incoming side of transformers. These fluctuations may fail to provide the precise and desired voltage necessary for the equipment, leading to potential damage.
We offer a comprehensive solution by taking charge of your off-circuit transformers and implementing modifications such as the conversion of the primary winding into 17 taps, tailored to meet your specific site requirements. Additionally, we incorporate an On-load Tap Changer (OLTC) to mitigate fluctuations at your LT distribution side. Our track record includes numerous successful projects involving the conversion from Off-circuit Tap Changer (OCTC) to OLTC, with a notable accomplishment being the installation of transformers at the prestigious CISCO campus.
HT Equipment Supply
- Gensets from Kirloskar Oil Engines, capable of reaching up to 1010 kVA
- Chiller plants from Kirloskar Chillers
By offering these services, we effectively alleviate the burdens associated with tracking multiple purchase orders, resolving payment and cash flow issues, and most importantly, maintaining an unwavering commitment to the highest level of quality.
Upgradation of Transformers According to IS 1180 Standards
We specialise in supplying low-loss transformers that adhere to the IS 1180 standards, which outline specific criteria for total losses (comprising no-load and load losses at 75°C) at 50% of rated load, ensuring that total losses at 100% of rated load do not exceed the designated maximum values. These optimised losses translate into reduced energy consumption, resulting in significant savings on electricity bills while maintaining the transformer’s operational state.
For instance, in the case of a 2500kVA transformer, the maximum total losses at 100% loading, as per IS 1180 Level 3, are 17.5 kW, whereas the losses of the older transformer amount to 22 kW. This upgrade leads to a savings of 4.5 kWh for every hour of operation. Over the course of a year, this amounts to substantial energy savings, totalling 39,420 units, equivalent to Rs. 3.15 lakhs.
Retrofitting of Old Existing Switchgear with New Breakers
At UPT, we offer comprehensive retrofit solutions for our clients, allowing them to retain their existing switchgear panel while upgrading it with modern advancements. Our retrofitting process involves the replacement of outdated MOCBs/SF6 CBs with state-of-the-art VCBs/Vacuum Contactors. Additionally, we provide retrofitting services for old-style relays, replacing them with modern numerical relays, all at a reasonable cost and with minimal downtime.
We have successfully executed numerous retrofitting projects, some of which include:
- Hyatt Hotel: By preserving the SF6 panel and replacing CBs with VCBs, we upgraded the switchgear system.
- BPL Power System: We removed the outdated relays and retrofitted modern relays, enabling the synchronisation of DG and EB power and resulting in efficient power management.
- Transformer Load Sharing: Our retrofitting services facilitated the synchronisation of transformers, enabling them to share the load during critical failures in one system.
By implementing these retrofit solutions, we enhance the functionality and efficiency of existing switchgear systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
